Re: IML: 1960 roof trim leaking

You can also go to Home Depot & get a product called Mooretite. It is a grey rope caulk that will do the job nicely. You can also go to an auto body or paint supply shop & get the black rope caulk if you are really fussy.

Donn, I refitted the roof spears on one of my 61's using a kind of gray sticky sealant material intended for setting windows and greenhouse roof glass. It looks like the original stuff, but will probably stay pliable longer than I will. It's likely available from many sources, but I got it from http://www.ppgautoglass.com/catalog/ cat_adco.htm

There's also http://www.solar-components.com/panels.htm
and

http://greenhousestuff.com/lordburnham/glazingtape.htm (but this is a foam-based tape, not the putty-like stuff your want to form an island around the penetrations).

Latest report from Anchorage: Only a few glaciated snow piles left.

Finally got the '60 pulled out of my friend's yard and trailered to my house. It's been sitting for about six years so a lot of things are rather stiff-moving.

I washed it down yesterday, scrubbing all the grime off and noticed dripping inside. Fortunately the headliner had already been torn out a few years back so I could imediately see the water was leaking through the fasteners attaching the roof trim. I didn't feel like starting to take them off at 8:00 last night so haven't investigated further.

Is this a common sort of issue? I haven't been able to find anything on it in the archives so far. What's the best option for resealing the fastener holes?
