Re: IML: 1966 stainless top fender moulding removal.

Opps, I forgot the link, here it is: http://www.imperialclub.com/~deadfishe/imperial/trim-01.htm

Here is a link to what I did to get the trim off my 64. It should be the same with your 66. I had some rust to deal with, but a bigger issue for me was the undercoating that was on everything, hiding all the nuts so that I couldn't find them.

As for the cost of replacing the moldings, I have gotten used pieces for many of the molding pieces on my car, and I have rarely paid more than $15 or so per piece. Check ebay, that is where I got most of my pieces, though be careful, since the pictures don't necessarily reflect the condition, nor does the sellers description. I have gotten a couple pieces that were about as rusty as the ones I was trying to replace (this was on some interior pieces), despite the description and pictures.

thanks chris

i suppose that fenderwell is no picnic to get off. can you get it off without taking off the fender? my imperial is a southern california car with no rust, so i don't think there will be a problem with rusted on nuts.

thanks

marty
