I think you'll want to go with the single stage for a more original look. I painted my Barracuda black with base/clear (Imperial isn't anywhere close to getting painted). It is much glossier than an original paint job. However, that was the look I wanted for that car. In my opinion, the single stage won't give you a deeper gloss, but a deeper, more opaque color. If that makes sense.
