You'll definitely get better results if you remove all the chrome yourself.  Maskin/taping off the chrome or other trim won't look nearly as good after the paint job.  And you'll save a bunch of $$$ on labor by removing the chrome and trim yourself--none of it is terribly difficult, just time consuming.  Take your time and be patient, and you'll be glad you did it yourself.
