When I was looking for personalized plates to get for my wife's car, I
seemed to always pick the one combination that someone else already had and
didn't want to continue spending my life at the DMV. Then, I
learned you can go online to
https://vrir.dmv.ca.gov/ipp/ippMain.jsp to
check for plate availability (I donât know if you already are aware
of this-if so, sorry to be redundant!) after you get to this
page, select "order personalized plates", then choose the type of
personalized plate you want and hit 'next'; this page will allow you to
put in any combination you may be contemplating to see if it's taken. If
you find one you like and it's not taken, you can reserve it online right then
and there. Good Luck!

Subject: Re: IML: new plates for my
'66convert
Hi All....just curious......I was at the DMV and checking to
see about getting a vanity plate for my newly aquired 1966 Convertible (named
Doris). I was told that someone else already has " 1of514 " and would have to
come up with something else, will I am working on. Does the owner happen to be
on the IML?? just curious as I was wondering just how many more '66
convertibles are here in Southern California.
Thanks !!
