IML: restore your '60 steering wheel

Hi Folks,

Just had great luck restoring my 1960 Imp wheel.  Now I started with a good one, 4 cracks all symetrical, 2 in the back at the horn ring cuts, and two where the textured lower rim meets the smooth.  These cracks were 1/8 to 1/4" wide.  I used Eastwood's steering wheel epoxy $9.  It adheres extremely well.  I applied with razor blade and screwdriver.  After drying, sanded with 400, 600, 1500, 2000 wet and dry.  I wanted to paint as little as possible, just over my repairs.  I found that Rustoleum 7250 Black night metallic from Ace hardware matches almost perfectly.  Or, as required, you may need to paint the whole thing.  I am polishing the whole wheel with compounds to a nice shine.  2000 wet'n'dry paper to smooth and blend overspray then polish out the whole wheel.  The paint is either blended or left just on the repair.  Looks like new.  Now the wheel on my LeBaron, only a vinyl wheel cover makes that usable.
