IML: Imperial Airflow

Before 1955, the Imperial was the top of the Chrysler line. From 1955 until 1975 Chrysler unsuccessfully tried to make Imperial its own division, but the public was too used to calling them Chrysler Imperials. In 1934 Walter P. Chrysler spearheaded the streamlined Airflow to an unsuspecting public. The Airflow was originally to be only in the DeSoto line, but Walter decided to have one with his name on it. The Airflow line did include an Imperial as the usual creme de la creme. Unfortunately, the Airflow was too far ahead of its time for the public's taste. The rest is history.
