The other day, while starting my 69 Coronet, it backfired. The engine
immediately had a noticeable "miss". A few days later I removed all spark
plugs and did a compression test. The results were as follows:
Cyl 1 (engine cold): 0 psi
Cyl 3: 0 psi
Cyl 5: 30 psi
Cyl 7: 130 psi
Right bank Cyl's were all OK.
I removed the valve cover and cranked the engine. All rocker arms & pushrods
seemed normal. Removed rocker arms & pushrods - all OK. Removed the
cylinder head - cannot see any markings on gasket indicating a leak through
between cylinders. Valves appear OK. Head appears OK. Have not yet checked
valve seats. Looking at top of pistons with a strong light indicates they
are OK.
After I check valve seats, I don't know what to do next. Would appreciate
any comments or ideas from the group?
Thanks..........................James
