Behalf Of WCR The illustration at this link will give
you a good idea of how the basic steering components relate to each
other. The idler arm is not identified by name in
the illustration, but it is on the left side of the illustration, just
to the right of the arrow that points to the "tie rod". A bad
arm will cause sloppy (loose) steering. Bill From:

Behalf Of Please excuse my ignorance… What is an Idler
Arm? I know it is one of the components of the steering / front
suspension, but I’m not a mechanic so I don’t exactly know what
this is. What is the Idler Arm’s purpose and what are the symptoms
(other than carousing and drinking) of an idler arm gone bad? My mechanic
is telling me that the Idler Arm is loose and should be replaced. What
should I be looking for? Thanks, Javier Proud
