I'm not sure that my car ever had that spring since I've owned it. The 
restoration was complete off-the-frame, so if that spring was in the 
body somewhere then it's been lost.

Thanks for your response to my question. I'll try to find a replacement 
spring or I imagine I can fabricate something to hold the jack in 
place. It's unlikely that my bumper jack will ever be used again now 
that everything (e.g. perfectly re-chromed bumbers) has been restored.
