Imperialists: Gents and Ladies: My 56 Dodge is soon to be 50 (but exactly when is its ''birthdate?), and so I am trying to find out if there is something on the data plates of the 56 and the 63 Crown to identify --at least the month/year--- in which they became 'an official vehicle'. The VIN #'s-stamped on plates on the drivers A pillar don't have any of the same #'s as the respective data plates. On my Imperial's data plate, below the Numbers 1---0 appear 0906 6141 924 and A BIG 47 (maybe the inspector?) then below these is the alphabet a---z below the alphabet is 2234 5 5 61 23 then below that: S0 Number BDY TRM PNT (and the corresponding #'s below 0906 6141 924 924 HH1 >From the data book it is clear that the BDY TRM 924 is Madison Grey The paint code HH1 does not correlate to any of the paint samples in the data book for 62 or 63, but the closest is 62 Irridescent Sage Green. Would 0906 = Sept 6th Based on the official VIN #, it is car # 4641 yet under NUMBER on the data plate it says 6141 (and the 6141 appears at the top and bottom of the data plate) Could someone have mixed up the #'s?? when stamping--two digits were reversed on the data plate on another car I own. Does anyone have a clue about 2234 5 5 61 23 Data says that 6960 Crown 4drs were built, so #4641 would be about 2/3 thru the production of CROWNS yet-- is 0906 Sept 6th?/ But by Sept 1963, one would think that the all new 1964 models would have been in production. So does anyone know if there is any way to tell from the data plate(s), the month of production of any Imperial (or Chrysler Corp vehicle)? Sherman D.
