I know for sure that the '66 LeBaron had a fairly smooth, leather grained vinyl top, as Eric has indicated. I believe that the Crown Coupe continued to use the same style that it had the year before, which was the heavy, finely ribbed, linear material. I only remember seeing this on one specific '66 Crown Coupe. It was dark metallic green with a tan vinyl top. Although very striking, I can not be sure that this car was standard from the factory or changed a year or two after it was made. Paul W.
