Re: IML: '60-63 Interior Door Handles

JB weld might work if everybody useing the handles were as gentle as the owner, but in the real world most passengers arent even thinking about the handle possibly breaking. I've used JB weld for many things, and I dont think it anywhere near strong enuff for a lasting repair. I have seen lots of roll pin problems, and even have an NOS. handle with the roll pin only holding one side . so you make a good point as to one of the reasons people pull to hard. another member also made a good point that keeping your mechanisms lubed will help. Still the weak point is where the hollowed top thins out at the stem. I believe all these steps should be taken. Lots of the broken pieces  I've came across were clamped well with the roll pin intact. Both original handles from my car being one example.I'm thinking that lead would be the best filler, my plan is to scuff the inside to get a bite then use soldering flux and fill the handle full of molten lead, as lead will never crack or flex and would give a very close comparison to a handle were made solid to begin with. And now that I think about it lead maybe could be used to solder a broken handle since pot metal also has a low melting point.
