I expect the door handle inserts to be extremely
faded by the time I get them. Figuring they’ve been on a car in a
wrecking yard for who knows how many years. But seeing as my current 67
Crown has no inserts at all, this will be an improvement. At first I didn’t realize that the
inserts were missing when I got the car. It did strike me a bit odd that
a sharp edge existed that was quite obvious when opening the door.
Especially if the car was parked on an incline where a little more pulling
effort was required to get the door open. It wasn’t until I was at the Mopar
Ally show earlier this month that I saw another 67 with the inserts in the
handles. That’s when I did my best Homer Simpson impersonation (‘DOH)

stripped off what was left of the raggedy woodgrain and after some minor
polishing returned them to the door handles. If you don't know they are
supposed to be woodgrain, you can't tell anything is missing! 67 Crown FDHT The 1967-only inserts are for the exterior door handles, and they are notreal wood, so they cannot be restored like the interior wood.They are a simulated woodgrain like Di-Noc over an aluminum base, and theywere susceptible to sun damage and sometimes the normal wear expected of ahandle you need to grasp to enter the car.Mine look perfect on the shady side, suggesting that they resisted the wearof physical contact far better than they resisted fading from sunlight. I"temporarily" replaced mine with the brushed aluminum set from a 1968 Ifound in a junkyard back in 1994 and they are still serving me well.
