IML: was: 60 radio gremlins/gutting radio/vivid memory/ now loc/dis button

Thank you everyone for your advice. I am heading to Radio Shack this 
afternoon for some tuner cleaner.
If this doesn't do it I will remove the radio and seek professional help(for 
the radio not me).
I have always liked to keep things original on a car if  at all possible .
It really is a good sounding radio  with wonderful tone from both front and 
back speakers.
Since I have the attention of  the 60 radio experts   I was asked a question 
about the radio  that I couldn't answer.
Someone wanted to know how the Loc/Dis button worked if in fact at all.
Was /is this a feature of the radio that does something ,or is it more 60's 
marketing than anything else?
