Re: IML: Batteries

Funny you guys have trouble with Sears. I went to my local Sears to get a battery for my 'cuda that had been sitting. I was prepared for them to try and give me one of those teeny batteries, but the book showed the big top post Die Hard. Group 27 I think. That was May 1996. I used it for the summer, would disconnect the battery on Labor Day. On Memorial Day I'd charge it, hook it up and drive the car for the summer. From 2001 it just sat. In June '04 I got my '82 Imperial, stuck it in and it has been flawless through this miserable winter and a hard starting problem that has killed two starters has only drained to the point of being unable to start the car once.

I guess it's like Champion spark plugs some people love them and some people don't. I've had Interstate batteries and they are fine too, I really just buy what's on sale. My understanding is the big price difference is primarily the warranty not any difference in quality.

I go to my long-time mechanic, and he puts a great honking Interstate
MegaTron in it. Usually winds up being an 850cca unit, but sometimes it's a
940cca (I think). I never have any trouble with them. I used to use great
big Die-Hards, but I've found they're fragile - once they get drained flat a
couple times, they're all done.
