RE: IML: Last Call for Oregon Meet - Florence Rhododendron Festival

Hello:

We have never been to this meet....is it strictly for Imperials, or by other cars...do you mean that others are also welcome?

Teresa

Hi Group,

This is your last reminder for the upcoming Imperial Meet. The weather is supposed to be great and we have a fantastic list of Imperials and other cars owned by Imperialists coming. 1962 Coupe, 1964 Crown, 1966 Convertible, 1967Sedan a 40 Plymouth Pickup, a 56 Tbird, 65 Studebaker, a 68 Ford LTD Wagon, and a 72 Chevelle.

Friday May 20th we do a tech session at 11:00am which includes car cleaning time to remove the road dirt. 3pm is the cruise, we'll be taking a drive up the coast. 7:30pm Dinner our 50's Diner (Bliss Restaurant)

Saturday morning we meet at the Dry Cleaners at 7:00am to drive in to the Rhody Show and Shine. It's first come first serve so you have to drive in together to park together. There are usually around 300 cars at this event everything from old originals, to Street Rods and the usual Mustang, Chevy, Camaro stuff. The nice thing is that we've been going so long, we're the Mopar contingent, and they try to park any other lone mopars that show up, with us. The car show ends at 4pm and then it's off to my house at the beach for a Mexican dinner cooked by Mikey's lovely wife Linda.

After dinner we do the cruise through old town. If you want a guide, some of my neighbors usually ride along. It' costs $5.00 and is organized by our all volunteer fire department and all the money is a fundraiser for them. They block off the streets which are all lined with Harleys as this weekend is also a biker ride in. So this is the chance to see all the cars in motion and get an up close view of the bikes... They announce the cars on our local AM radio station as well, while playing the oldies. After the cruise we usually take turns driving each others cars around, then it's back to the beach for a bonfire and some of Loren's Imperial spare tire ale.

Sunday morning, you're invited for breakfast at our house before you hit the road.
