That sounds like it could be a vacuum modulator for the transmission (No, I don't know for sure if the Transmission has one)

Subject: IML: 1962 Imp. Vacumm Line - Where to hook up?

Hi to All:  Help, When I took apart the heater Cover to get at the Heater Core, I disconnected the vacuum line from the engine. It is a small size line that come off of the tee at the back of the Intake Manifold.  The line is about 18 inches long & has a short copper tube in. I hooks up to the firewall somewhere to something.   I can't find where.  I looked in the FSM but did not find anything.
Help:   Thanks:  Dave V.      &  Happy Imperialing
