Re: IML: 82 Imp

Well Glory Be!  I thought they were like Shrader valves!  Now, think I should dare clean out the Control Pump?  I've been rebuilding Chrysler starters for 50 years (mostly end cap bearings)!

Yes, the assembly comes completely apart.  The valves should just drop out – if they don’t, there’s crud in them thaar hills!  Be careful not to lose the springs!

That brings up one more thing, Dick.  Do those little spring loaded valves disassemble further than just the O ring?  Like do the springs come out?

One more thing, Dick.  On cleaning the nozzles, the web page alludes to back flushing.  How does one do that?  Unsolder the end plug?

That’s a new one on me, Ken.  I just squirt “Gunk” carburetor cleaner through the plumbing until I get a good stream out of each of the 8 nozzles.   It’s quick and easy, but you do have to lift the nozzle assembly out of the HSA so you can disassemble the little spring loaded regulator valves.  Do this in a clean, well lit place!

Dick.
