Hello
Well after almost two full years my '59 Lebaron FDHT is
getting close to "completion".
The work remaining is to complete the reupholstering
(including the trunk) followed by painting and the installation of the
chrome.
Of course there is also items like the aerial which I am
still pursuing, a few emblems and those sort of things that ensure one is
never "there".
The car was taken to the upholstery shop on March 30 and,
since everything has been purchased, the estimate to complete this phase
was 2-3 weeks (translation: 4-6 weeks). The painting and chrome installation
is "promised" to be completed in 2 weeks (history says this means 4 weeks). So
by early June I expect to be "motoring".
I have a question related to the "package tray". My
package tray has two levels to it and the car is equipped with rear A/C
as well as a rear speaker. This means there is one intake vent and two
discharge vents for the A/C and there is also the rear speaker mounted at the
back. This is the question: Is there a grille or ??? mounted on top of
the speaker? It looks like something is missing.
It is impossible to determine from the status of the car
when I bought it as the package tray had been
previously "reupholstered" by apprenticeship blacksmiths.
Thanks for any help offered.
Mel
