   Generally, squeaking. Eventually it becomes a horrible screeching. If you
_really_ wait a long time, the car will feel like one or more tires has a
big flat spot, as the bearings disintegrate. Definately stop driving at that
point, the wheel's about to come off.
   I did that to a pickup once - I had to hacksaw and chisel the races out
of the hub afterwards...
