Re: IML: It's Tanner's not Tannery/Now Tandy/Imperial Hides

I think that they provide leather supplies to the industry, including seconds on hides. They may not be authentic for our '60s Imperials though. I doubt that they do all the things that Chrysler "claimed" to do in order to prove its durability.

I remember something about "exposing the hides to the harshest conditions, throwing them into a test pit so that only the finest and most durable hides ever grace an Imperial", probably in the 1965 sales brochure. That isn't the exact quote, but if all of the upholstery that was ever used in an Imperial was tested first in this way, I suspect we wouldn't be preserving any of it by now. Does anyone remember reading something like this anyplace in the sales literature?
