That sounds like quite a '61 New Yorker you've come across. Unfortunately, 
our list is Imperial specific. You might check with the Forward Look

for more info. But just by comparing the photos, the '60 hood, 
http://cmt.tstc.edu/~swhite/mopar/identify/1960/60ch_ny_4sd.html
looks substantially different than the '61 hood, 
http://cmt.tstc.edu/~swhite/mopar/identify/1961/61ch_ny_9pass.html
On the 1962-1965 Mopar site, 
http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/welcome.html ,  it looks like the 
1962 hoods are the same cut as the '61 models, 
http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.org/ml-sami62.html ,  they share front 
fenders and bumpers as well.
