There were other "Imperials" also.  I have seen a 1946 Cadillac Imperial. 
It was a long wheel base model with a dividing glass that could be raised 
between the driver and the passengers.  I think the term Imperial denotes 
this type of vehicle by any manufacturer, hence the Humber.  I would dare to 
guess the term is of British origin.  In the UK they was a type of vehicle 
specifically made for civic dignitaries and it was a badge of honor for each 
community's mayor or whatever bigwig to have access to it.  In this, of 
course, the Soviet Union, followed suit, but that's another story for a 
whole nuther mailing list.  The more egalitarian USA made do with stretch 
versions of regular cars.  I am not aware of a specific make that was 
restricted to the so called elite.
