IML: Imperial names must fit the year, style, color, personality of the owner. Here are a couple of my thoughts if I had a floatilla of Imperials (like Pual W.)...

How about "Chrome"?  If you are not one of those opposed to masculine names for cars.  Some think all cars should have feminine names, but I think what fits, fits.  My '66 Crown vert is Doris Day.  Doris rode in a '59 Imperial with Tony Randall in one of the DD, Rock Hudson movies, I think it was a DD, RH movie, but could be wrong.  The film clip is on the website.

I think the model, and the color scheme of the car should play a major role in giving it a name to fit it's unique personality.  You would not want to name a coral colored '56 Imperial (with God willing, the matching Car Coat, which was the style at the time) a masculine name, I would think, but a triple black '69-'73 Fuselage one could easily be "Darth Vader".  You could name the car "Rock" Hudson?  Didn't James Coburn (Colburn?) drive a white '67 or '68 Imperial convertible in the "Our Man Flint" movie(s), which were, again, I think, parodies of the James Bond movies, or just a copy cat of the James Bond style movies.  "Flint" would also be good, but again probably better suited for a '67-'68, rather than a '59.  I may be way off on that one, but I think he did drive an Imperial?  Maybe not.

My '60 Crown Convertible was "Kim Novak Technicolor Lipstick Red", as I did not know the formal name of the pinkish red color, and was named Zsa, Zsa - all flash, and glitz, and several face lifts over time, with an attitude to match.  Personally, I would love to slap a cop, jump back in the Imp, and then let him try to catch me, but I digress.  "Brigitte" Bardot for '64-'66, "Mimi" Van Doran for a '57-'63 are good ones too.

Whatever you choose, it will come to you, and it will be right.  Next Imperial, as if, I might name it, if a '63 or earlier, "Norma Jean" after the definitive Hollywood sex kitten beauty Marilyn Monroe.  "Jane Mansfield" would be cool too, but trampier, and may bring bad "Car-ma" considering her unpleasant end.  Although that tragedy WAS in a BUICK.  I have always thought if I had a Ghia Limo, and were able to use it as an exclusive limo service, I would name it "Butterfield 8", and try to fit it on a license plate.  "Butrfld8" might work, and in reference to Liz Taylor in her prime (who, just so you know, and someday your grandchildren will know, HATED Marilyn Monroe, and was extremely jealous of her.  I know you all had a need to know that.  And now you do!), but that is my just my opinion, and we all know about opinions, don't we...

Subject: IML: car names?

I know this is sort of off topic but thought what the heck.
my 59 imperial is nameless I can't seem to come up with a cool name for it any suggestions?
I have been leaning towards  the "NAUTILUS". from the book, but would like to find one that would better fit a imperial.
