On the RB motors, there is a machined smooth pad on the right top side of  
the block with assembly codes.  On the B motor, this pad is to the left of  the
distributor. This is looking from the front of the motor. Both are  sometimes
hard to see on imps due to a/c compressors in the way.  Joe <SNIP>>>>>>>>>>

LOL, that big honkin' compressor pretty much covers up EVERYTHING up front! and makes it a nifty knuckle-buster of a job (even for my smaller hands) to change out the thermostat - ask me how I know that.

If car isn't vandalized, that's a 440 in all the '68s. Love that engine!
