Hello Larry,

I actually had my hood ornament gold plated.  It gave it a much richer and deeper color than gold anodizing.  Side by side comparison with another Fury about three years ago revealed these facts when I was at a car show in Northern California.

      The correct procedure is to have it anodized because that is the way they 
  came from the factory and it is cheaper then gold plating. However I have 
  seen several gold plated ones and they look terrific---------maybe even just a 
  little bit brighter!!!!
