Ed.... I am quite certain it was cooled by circulating the tranny fluid though a cooler that is part of the radiator. In 58 it was part #1736546 with the addition of 1823726 weight and 1823709 spring. In 1957 if was part #1823682 with the addition of 1823708 weight and 1823709 spring. Those weight and springs beefed the tranny up to higher performance.
