Hi Folks,
Got a response on body # & motor #.
Citing his vin which is an Evansville car, he shows his body number to be
LP32E-2976. Fury body numbers in '58 are LP92-XXXX or 292-XXXX, not
LP32. Also his body # of 2976 does not fit in the range of Evansville Fury
body #s that range from 1540 for a VIN of LP2E23335 thru a body # of 2469 for a
VIN of LP2E51104 and up to a body # of just only 3067 for a VIN of
LP2E81732. His motor number does not track either as he cites it as
1137929. Maybe it is a casting #, but did tell him to look on the driver's
side block, front, below the head. He did not cite prefixes.
The correct Fury poly numbers are FLP8-XXXXXX (ie 6digits, not 7). Given
his body number of LP32 and the 4 digits being entirely out of wack of the
sequence of Evansville VINs and Body #s for Fury's, I think he has a nice '58
Belvedere with a standard 2bbl 318 that was routinely mated to a PowerFlite
transmission, unless you upgraded to the optional TorqueFlite that was possible
with a 2bbl 318. PowerFlite's were not "standard" to 4bbl 318s, and
definitely not offered on '57 or '58 Fury's. I think this poor seller
bought a pig in a poke (tho a nice one), and trying to sell it to another poor
buyer. Of course, his eyeglass prescription may be wearing thin, and he
misread all those #s, but given all the info so far, I'll let you decide on
authenticity. I have decided and I think you know how I see
it.

It's definitely not a Fury. I'm not sure how it got the Fury
interior, but the rest of the car is not a Fury.
Ron Swartley pointed out all the
inconsistencies. I don't believe it to be a Fury either. I have
emailed the seller for his motor and body number. See what he has to say
if anything.
