How is the ring gear held in place?
1959 Dodge with 361 v8 with a torqueflite.
I can see no signs of any welds, and I don't think these engine/box combos have a flex plate. So I'm assuming it's shrunk on to the torque converter.

On a Powerflite they are tack welded to the torque converter.

I hope you successfully removed and replaced the ring gear on your converter. When I worked on the bench we were on Flat Rate. That meant the book had XX hours to do the job. We didn’t always follow the guidelines laid out in the service manuals. Once the converter was on the bench, we grabbed the grinder and use it to split the ring gear between 2 teeth, then a whack with a hammer and it was off. Then cleaned off the staking lugs. The ring gear must be warmed to install, out came the acetylene torch and on it dropped. Darned if I can remember if we then staked it. If i remember correctly, the ring gear has a tiny taper on the inner diameter as does the converter on the outer diameter.
