Subject: Lower Fan Pulley came apart

Hi, Newbee here. i just acquired a 57 Savoy 230 3 on the tree 2 door sedan a few months ago I have put about 500 miles on it. Recently it sounded like the fan belt was slipping under acceleration. I tighten it up a little and put another 100 miles on it, still seemed it was slipping. Turns out the lower fan pulley had separated (see attached pic) and i'm unable to find a replacement part so far. What are the possible solutions?

All help greatly appreciated

Thanks

that is actually the vibration dampener. you should be able to use one from most any Chrysler flathead six up to 1959,

Thank you for the quick reply's 58coupe and ronbo97.

I will check out to see if i can find a used one. If not, I'll give the damperdudes or damperdoctor a call. I wasn't sure if my flathead 6 was specially built and had crazy torque, enough to tear the vibration dampener apart. Or maybe it's because the dampener is 60+ years young. (Haha)

A used one is likely to suffer the same catastrophic failure that yours did. They've also been known to slip, throwing off timing. Is that what you want ?

I called Damper Doctor and they seem to have a reasonable price to rebuild so I will be shipping it out soon
