I need a copy of the original 56 Dodge starting and charging wiring diagram . I'm putting back on my 55 Dodge the generator and power steering pump that I had before because the system I had before had a higher pressure and blew out the seals in the steering column. I found out that the alternator system i had was AC current and the generator system is DC current. So I have to redo some of my wiring.

Ernie: I am not sure what PS pump you were using that over-pressured the seals *BUT*, as I have previously suggested, *IF* the pump was a Saginaw, you can/could easily
reduce the pressure by buying a Borgeson 899001 shim kit that would reduce the pressure down to 700 psi (5 shims) or 850 psi (4 shims), which is correct for the 55-56 Mopar
Coaxial PS steering box that wants between 750 and 850 psi max (according to the Factory Service Manual)

Cost = about $17 plus shipping.

I was using a Tuff Stuff PS pump with a 850psi valve in it. It worked for about 12years and just recently the column started leaking. and making a growling noise. so I had the column rebuilt. The rebuilder told me that their was some wrong size o-rings used inside and that is why it started to give me problems. So I decided to put it back to the original configuration which would make it original appearing and have the proper pressure to be less likely to blow seals. The bottom line is that I think I'll be safe using the original engineered system. I think the generator(50amp) should put out enough power to run the car with the electrical items I have on it. However I'm saving all of the stuff I took off in case I need to put it back on.
