Drain, Dry it out clean it completely, drive it... these cars got wet off the showroom floor... whats sad is the owner "took the insurance" money and let it become flood salvaged but that 100k was probably too tempting.. so he cashed it out...

It's hard to belive the actual cash value of $104,000 with all of the missing items.  Can't blame the previous owner for cashing out at that price.  Heck, I guess they could buy it back, replace all the missing goodies and make a bundle.

There isn't anything irreplaceable IMO except the "built exclusively for" number plaque that was clearly there on the transmission hump. You can find nameplates, trunk letters, air cleaners and wheels/covers.. I'd bet 90%+ no longer have that built for number plaque and that IMO is a piece of the cars identity that should stay with the car. Who know's.. that stuff could be in the trunk or glovebox for all I know. Looks to have sold for around 40K.. I guess we'll likely see it within 6 months for resale.

Repop parts are always nice to have but someone paying for a restoration isn't going to engrave the name of the original owner on one of those or know the number assigned to the car. They are only original once and that matters to me... I get that isn't for everyone. I guess this car in the post is destined to be another christine clone. Yay.

Actually I think this Fury probably looked like that once before... the seam where the lower 1/4 meets the rocker isn't there so it's been worked on. Still a nice car if it got disassembled, cleaned, and fixing whatever it needs.. but evidently that isn't its fate.

I think so too but it was sad from the start. 100k insurance payday wouldn't buy mine unless it was twisted in half, The whole situation is sad.

Either that or buy your own car back and take a $60,000 payday.  I think you could get a dang good cleaning / disinfecting / rust proofing for 30 large and you would still have a first-class European vacation for the whole family left.

hard to say what the "settlement" price was.. We dont know how long it sat in water... if it didnt sit long the water wouldnt bother this car that much...

I assume the owner yanked all the expensive bits off it then handed it over or the salvage yard guys did.

The issue is what kind of water, apparently this was in Florida so it’s salt water. You would have to strip everything out and dip the body to neutralize it quickly. Apparently this car was bought by someone who is going to build a Christine out of it.
