Hi everyone,

I’ve been having trouble with my 1961 Chrysler Newport's battery draining quickly. The battery is relatively new,, but it seems to lose charge overnight. I’ve checked the alternator,, and it appears to be functioning correctly.

I am wondering if old wiring or a faulty relay might be the cause. Has anyone experienced a similar issue with their classic Chrysler models: ?? Any tips on how to pinpoint the source of the drain would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

Most likely it is caused from a faulty hydraulic brake light switch. Connect a 10 Amp (fused) ammeter between that switch to determine if that's the cause, but this is a very common failure mode for those things. That's one of the reasons people swap them out for a mechanical switch at the pedals.
