Expert 5K+ Posts: 9871 Location: So. Cal | We need a dedicated thread on the special purpose vehicles that either came out of the factory or were immediately modified by an external company. The first car I would like to post is the '56 Plymouth panel wagon, and yes, it came from the factory as a panel, not some recreation. The sides are completely different from the wagon and the side panels have formed ends, not just flat steel. These are very rare and I was an idiot for passing it up. This one was made in Los Angeles for a California fire department and was originally painted red with a white roof. Here is the fender tag on it: M8: 3 M9: 4 SCHED: 0807 NO: 3192 MODEL: P281 BT: 617 PT: 677 TR: 802 You can read more about it here: http://forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=32215 (56PanelFR.jpg) (56PanelFL.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 56PanelFR.jpg (107KB - 65 downloads) 56PanelFL.jpg (121KB - 63 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9871 Location: So. Cal | Supposedly, this '62 Valiant wagon was sent by Chrysler to Amblewagon, an ambulance company in Madison Heights, Michigan; to create these panel wagons to be used for florist deliveries, among other things. Apparently, they welded the rear doors shut and added the panels. More of a hack job, IMO, than other panel wagons, but it's interesting. I guess if all you have available are 4dr wagons, you make do with what you have. (62 Valiant Panel.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 62 Valiant Panel.jpg (386KB - 64 downloads)

Expert Posts: 2013 | . 1959 DODGE CORONET USAF AMBULANCE MILITARY MEMPHIAN FOR SALE Posted on Sep 24, 2010 | Hits: 8149 | Stock No: #0234 $2,000.00 Dodge Coronet Share Add to favorites Print Report Offensive Ad Make: Dodge Model: Coronet Country: USA Region: TX City: Pittsburg Zip: 75686 Body Style: Wagon Year: 1959 Transmission: Automatic Fuel: Gas Condition: Used Documentation: Car Owners Manuals VIN Report: Vehicle History Report Financing: Classic Car Loan Quotes Insurance: Classic Car Insurance Quote Shipping: Auto Transport Quote Warranty: Extended Warranty Quote I currently have for sale ON E-BAY, an original 1959 Dodge Coronet Memphian USAF Air Force ambulance. This car started life as a standard 2 door Dodge Coronet, when it was sent to Memphis Coach Company, who installed the ambulance conversion and dropped the 396 CI engine in it for the US Air Force. I am assuming this was used either at an airport, or on a Aircraft Carrier because it does not look like it has very good off road capabilities. I found this vehicle sitting in a driveway a while back and hated to see such a beautiful piece being wasted, so I bought it from the owner, cleaned it up, primed it to keep it from rusting any more, and it has been sitting since.... For full description and detailed pictures or to bid please use the following link.. Link may have to be copied and pasted into address bar but is a good link..
