I’ve got a 1957 Dodge Coronet, that came with a V-8, but other than that was pretty low option. It came without reverse lights, without a radio or map light, and likely with rubber flooring. Does anyone have a picture of what the rear of a 1957 Dodge reverse light delete car looks like? I’ve never seen a reverse light delete plate instead of a lens, so maybe they all had lenses and some just without bulbs or wiring? Any help is appreciated.

.
They might (???) be similar to the 1955-56 Dodge reverse light delete plates, PN 1605 227.

I bet they just came with lenses there. It would be ugly and not symmetric. Look at the 1957 Plymouth's reverse lights. They all came with those large diameter lenses even if the reverse light option wasn't installed. There are lots of kits for them on ebay and other sites to make them functional. Marc. https://www.ebay.com/itm/112473384373?epid=1529947765&itmmeta=01HSDW...

Manual trans mission kit for Ply. (should work for 3 speed Dodge MANual tranny) https://www.ebay.com/itm/333078326314?epid=1039138827&itmmeta=01HSDW...

Make sure which transmission is in the car. May as well install it. No one will hold it against you and it is SAFER! There are very bright L.E.D. bulbs (1156 style I believe.) to see behind you very well.

Does not seem like it would make sense economically, but manufacturers would love to advertise if the could sell their least expensive 2 door hardtop, etc $20 cheaper than the next manufacturer. Maybe the thought was that they’d make it up in overall sales even if they didn’t sell reverse light delete often, they’d get folks into their dealerships then sell them something else. Kind of the opposite of losing money on a flagship model that loses money on every one they sell.

I did this and went with all 4 tail lights, lowers are turn signals and stuck reverse light on the license plate surround.

That was one of my first projects with my 56 Dodge, back in March 2017. I was and still am very pleased with the end result.
