This guy is smoking crack. They're worth money, but not that much money. For $12K, you could tool up and make them all from scratch.

Very cool!  I bought 'em.

Just kidding!

Hard to justify that price for wheelcovers.  I had to make my own.  I was glad this fellow posted all the images.  I had to make my own and I ended up cutting the centers from the 1957 wheelcovers.  Also, I went with the 1957s with rings rather than clips.  I wonder if the '58s had either rings or clips too?  The clips seemed like they might be more apt to fall of the rim when bumped, but I don't know.

I missed out on a set of these about 20 years ago that were on eBay. As I recall the bidding got to around $800. I bid to $750, just missing out. I’d be real curious what these would go for if the bidding started at $1000.

In general, prices have dropped a little since about 2008. If it started out at $1K, it would sit there and eventually sell to one person after the 3rd try. That's my estimate. It's not like you have gobs of '58 Adventurer owners trying to get their hands on them.

I agree with you Mike, about the clips. They don't seem very secure for such a heavy hubcap. These things are quite heavy!

I recall missing out on a set (or maybe just short of a set) about ten years ago.  I bid it up to about $650 and got cold feet.  Maybe they were missing one of the center caps or something.  At $3,000 for each wheelcover, this dude is the proud owner for life!

When this fellow ascends to the Pearly Gates, his wife will sell them for $5 each.  Such is all our fates!

I could see spening $1,500 to $2,000 for them.  $2,000 to $2,500 - I don't know.  Above $2,500?  - too rich for me.  However, I don't even own an Adventurer!

I suppose in theory, he's trying to sell them to a guy just finishing an Adventurer Convert, but the problem is that if the hypothetical car is going to Auction, it'll do just as well with a set of Aftermarket Wire Wheels. Far cheaper than what he's asking and these aren't even NOS or restored.

they dont even sit properly w just those 4 special spings on the wheel (fall off easy),, so to make it work good you also have to buy 4 ,,57 regular hubcaps those have all those fingers so they dont fall off ,and then move over the spinner ,so in that case you pay for 4 spinners , thats gold prices ,well well, my 2cents of knowligde

I sent the seller a message just to confirm the price (you never know).  It is correct: $12,000 + $55.61 shipping + tax.  I can never figure out taxes on eBay: I am charged either 4.8% or 8.82% on not only the item, but also the shipping.  In this case, that translates to between $578.67 and $1,063.31.  All told, that would be (worst case scenario on taxes)   $13,118.92

You would think if soneone paid that, the seller would at least ship it next day air, but I think it is UPS Ground.

My wheel covers (not exactly the same) weight 3.2 pounds each or about 51.2 ounces.

At today's gold price of $1,779.70 per ounce, if these were made of solid 24K gold, they would be $91,120.64 each!   ...so it's a relative bargain.

I always find it puzzling that on a sale of 10k plus, sellers don't just offer free shipping. Like it's 1% of the sale.

Speaking of '58 Adventurers, does anyone want to purchase a decent one for $28K? It's been painted red with a non-stock interior, and he claims that it was originally green, so it might be a clone. But he doesn't know much about it, so who knows. It was his father's car. But it does have all the Adventurer parts on it. Still, even if it was originally a Fireflite, it's still a great buy. I don't have the funds or I would be more tempted by it. But if you buy it, don't buy these hubcaps for $12K!

Beautifully designed wheel covers, one of the best. He should really be asking $20k for them in this economy

Nice, did you draw that up yourself? It looks like you used the Catia program?

Hi, Nathan:

I used OneShape (probably similar to Catia).  I'm going to 3-D print it on the inexpensive material for a test.  If it looks good, I'll print a few on the good material.

Hi, Nathan:

I thought I would try to make two different sets of spinner center emblems.  One set traditional Adventurer (left) which will be finished in silver, black, and gold.  Another set customized to match the Fireflite button emblem on the front fender (right) which will be finished in red and gold.  My Firedome is holly red, so I think the customized emblems may look pretty good with the color of my car.
