I purchased 2 disc brake conversions from Scarebird last week and was told that there was only one left because they are going out of business by October. I just looked on their website and I see that the '57-'61 mopar conversion is no longer listed there. Anyone know why they are choosing to go out of business?

eh they are the cheapest price and probably not getting the business they used to... High end restos dont use their parts... and AJ's is his competition around here.

I like his stuff, fit great on my 57 Dodge

I trust you got my emails with the lists of parts needed to actually install the front discs on your car (??)

Hi,

I can confirm their closing.

I got a rather terse message from Mark today that they were closing when I asked about additional parts that go with the kit I had purchased in June for my 1960 Plymouth Fury.

No references for other kits, just we are closing, period.

Here are the parts that I bought to use Scarebird's 57-61 Mopar bracket kit on my 56 Dodge D500 with 56 Chrysler uprights and spindles (some minor clearancing of the bracket at the steering arm was needed):

1. Hose: Raybestos BH36773. 15.5" long. SAE female end, caliper end = banjo bolts

2. I think that the ScareBird bracket kit comes with banjo bolts but if not, Dels56 used Raybestos Brakes Brake Hydraulic Banjo Bolt H5370

As for the rotors and bearings and seals *AND* the calipers, this is what I bought from Rock Auto:

I used a Dodge truck caliper that fits also.

I believe the rotor was 71-73 ford?

Mike: You are mistaken. That was an older bracket kit. The "current" 57-61 Mopar kit (no longer listed on their website) used these parts:

Part Application
Rotor (2) 1977 Chrysler Cordoba
Caliper 1990 Chevy Celebrity HD
Disc Pads 1990 Chevy Celebrity HD
Hose (12”) 1979-84 Buick Electra front
Hose (15”) 1979-81 Chevy Camaro, Pontiac Firebird front
Hose, (17”) 1979-85 Cadillac Eldorado
Inner Bearing 1977 Chrysler Cordoba
Outer Bearing 1965-72 Plymouth Fury
Wheel Seal 1977 Chrysler Cordoba
Dust cap 1977 Chrysler Cordoba Dorman 13996
Spindle nut 1936-65 Plymouth Dorman 615-016

The 11" AAJ front kit Roger sent me for my '60 Chrysler uses calipers, pads, hoses and banjo bolts designed for '76 Monte Carlo, and rotors, bearings, and seals, for '76 Dart.
