I have tried searching for the answer, but I am now so overloaded with info I didn't know about steering pump manufacturers and pulley etc, that I'm giving up and hoping someone has already done the legwork on this.
So shortly after we got the Windsor, the steering pump seized. We have been limping it around with a Mopar 1970s (we think) steering pump out of our generic parts pile. The pulley chews through a belt in about 3 weeks.
To rebuild the original pump is about $1000 (Canadian) assuming I can find a viable core. I'm cheap and would like to avoid that if I can, plus if it happens to run dry again the pump will need another rebuild. I'd love to find a pump / bracket kit that lets me put something newer / more serviceable. Or I'd happily like to keep using what I am, but Part of the issue I'm having is finding a local parts house that will sell me a 3/8 width belt. All the local guys keep trying to sell cogged belts "because gm ran them for years and never had a problem" The best I've managed is the 1/2" belts that get chewed up by the crank pulley. I suspect the issue is the width, or the groove on the pulleys looks like 30 degree and newer belts look closer to 40 degree, or both. All I know is it can't be this hard to find a fan belt to fit a running car with a working power steering pump? Am I loosing it? Am I missing something obvious?

TLDR
what are people using for power steering pumps on 1958(ish) 354 engines?

Lares *did* have PS pump for around $200:

There are rebuild kits out there with bearings, seals and O-rings for reasonable cash:

Otherwise, it might be possible to switch to a Saginaw pump. They are readily and cheaply available.
