Expert Posts: 4533 Location: Ripon, WI | Hanging in there. Been selling cars now for 6 years. Way less stressful. Still live in Ripon, WI. Been busy, and I have been back and forth through several cars. Just have the 1971 Dodge Polara 4 door hardtop and the 59 burban I am buying. Looking forward to warmth so I can start to work on that one. I don't know how many of us are left, but we should do a sort of Tulsa reunion. Lol

Expert Posts: 4533 Location: Ripon, WI | I am pretty anxious to get started on the suburban. It was a guy's project car. He got the body shell done, seats, and some other work, but it petered out. He told me his plan was to have it done by the time his son went to prom. His son is now 37. He ended up going on a long term buying spree though and bought tons of parts. Took me two trips to get all the parts. The back seat of my CrewMax Tundra was completely full above the head rests, plus the bed full on both trips. The second one I also took at 6X12 Uhaul trailer, and that was level to the rails. My garage is full with all the spares. I have enough of some parts to build like 10 cars, and enough of some to just build 2... In November of 2020, I tore up my right shoulder while bench pressing 225. The long head of my bicep detached, and it ended up shredding my whole shoulder. I had what is called an SCR repair in December of 2020, but honestly, I am just now feeling somewhat normal after that. Pretty much took an entire year off of wrenching on anything because of it. I have had very limited power, and at times, my bicep feels like it is doing flips in my arm. That is happening less and less now. I have my mobility in the shoulder back, but power is still not 100% yet. I am looking forward to working on this one though, as I need to prove I can do it yet! Its been a rough couple of years......

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9893 Location: So. Cal | Wow, that really sucks Mike. I've never heard of that happening before. The suburban sounds like a great project, keep us posted. I think the '59-'60 Plymouth and '60-'61 Chryslers are the best looking wagons made.

Elite Veteran Posts: 1060 Location: Auckland, New Zealand. | I presume this warning is directed at me. Feel free to delete my comment if it offends anyone. I was merely stating what perhaps is obvious, and I acknowledge in hindsight that it is not FWDLK related. I do like the fact that the FWDLK site is not political in any way and that there are snowflakes hiding everywhere just waiting to be offended by something. (shoot there I go again??) I joined The Forward Look around Christmastime 2007; but had been lurking for many, many years prior to that. So,. I'm familiar with all your names and I can't tell you guys how often I benefitted from your advice and comments! My heart sank a lot when Neil passed on, and my interest took a hit. I only periodically checked in. Got some interest back when Dave D500Boy became real active (I am, after all, a '56 dodge afficionado). I wonder how many guys fit into my mold? Well, I guess I'll go back to lurking, and observing, for now. Be well, everybody!

Member Posts: 46 Location: Fraser Valley, BC | I’m here too guys…after a long hiatus I’ve dusted off the fins after 11 years sitting idle and rekindled my love for the old car hobby. My mental health hasn’t been the greatest for a long while and I’m still working at it every day to pull my wheels out of the rut, but I’m a little older and a little wiser now and realize how much I need this community in my life. I’ve never been the most chatty member here, but believe me, I was here every single day lurking in the background eagerly reading all the messages posted about our niche choice in automobiles. Most recently I’ve been revisiting and reflecting fondly on the memories from Tulsarama back in 2007 and how I would give anything to relive those few magical days that truly ended up being a once in a lifetime experience. I’ve never been surrounded by more Mopar fins and ‘fin’atics before or since that time. It was so rewarding to meet a lot of you fine folks in person. I only wish I wasn’t so darn introverted and connected with more of you at the time. Today I’m down one project car, but I still have my beloved ’58 Belvedere 4dr sedan that will be with me till my dying days. I’m in the process of getting her road worthy again and finally installing the AAJ disc brake conversion kit I’ve had sitting around for many years. Here’s to many more years of Forward Look cruisin’ Jeff Edited by Furyous J 2022-07-03 3:18 AM

Expert Posts: 2244 Location: Yorba Linda, Ca | Hi Mike, I'm still "vertical". I sold the 59 Dodge but I still have the 1958 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible and I have the 1964 Dodge Polara 500 426 Wedge that I bought brand new when I was a 21 year old kid! I took the 64 Dodge into my fav auto shop for a tranny leak, whilst they checking the source of the tranny leak they discovered that the 413 engine that I've had in the car for about 30 years has a cracked block OUCHHHH They are going to try to seal it externally but I want to find a 426 or 440 complete engine for it. Totally rebuilt and ready to install except for accessories (manifolds carb alternator etc). If you (Mike) or anybody here that reads this post, have any suggestions for a good source for rebuilt 426 440 engine, please post it here, Thanks! Gary
