Hey All, does anyone know if there's a suitable replacement that can be found for the dipstick O-Ring on the cast iron TF? Mine leaking like a Siv and I can't seem to find one online. Do anyone happen to know if this intercchanges with any other years? or if im able to just go with a generic Seal? Thanks!

Are you talking about the filler tube into which the dipstick is located? If so, as far as I know/remember, the filler tube does not have an O-ring at the bottom. It has a sliding threaded fitting that slides over the filler tube and is threaded into the threaded boss on the transmission oil pan. The end of the tube is flared and it fits into a seat in the threaded boss on the pan. Like a fuel or brake line.

I could be wrong but you might just have to tighten the fitting a bit more or back it off entirely and clean all the threads (external and internal) before wrapping the external threads with yellow gas-compatible Teflon tape and then re-install.

There is no O-ring listed with the filler tube.

Ahh I see, that would explain why I couldn't find anything on it, must be like you said then either dirty or loose. Thanks For the info!

I dug out my spare A-466 cast iron Torqueflite pan and my now unused Powerflite filler tube. Turns out the size and the threads are pretty much the same.

Point is you might not be getting a good seal if the female receiving part of the threaded boss on the pan is dirty. I think the one in my photo below is too dirty
and would need further cleaning if this was for real (instead of a photo exercise).

The end of the filler tube is double flared to create a strong male ridge to fit into the female receiver.

See below.

I forgot that I had this photo of my 57 Windsor air-cooled TF installed on my 56 Dodge 315 hemi. It shows how the filler tube is held firmly (without leaks) to the TF fluid pan by the external nut on the filler tube.
