| Hey folks. Crazy question is there a possible way to lighten the hood spring tension on my '60 Fury? It was factory lightened when it was ordered back in '59. I am not too sure if the car wasn't acid dipped for the diet. But the hood springs are so darn stiff you needed to push down on each corner to shut the rear down.
I'm not sure if this is possible or if I should just go to using hood pins. |

Location: Ponder, TX | My suspicion is that the spring brackets need adjusting. At least that has happened to me in the past, though not on a '60 Plymouth. That was years ago, so I won't pretend to describe how to make the adjustments.

solved and no one will ever see the fix . hood is now down in place------------------------------later |

Location: So. Cal | Often, having to push it down in the back is due to the hinges being rusty and not moving very easily. I recommend that you try oiling them up before you try any adjustments to them. |

| Nothing wrong with hinges in fact they still look like they did 40 years ago. I tried WD-40, silicone, 30W even wax nothing made them pivot easier. I've actually thought about welding angle iron to hood to reinforce the stupid thing. I've got the hood skin separated from the inner structure and it don't weigh much at all. Did this to try knock some dings and dents out as well as the creases from over the many years. |
