Has anyone tried the plastic dip commonly used for tool handles to replace the rubber/plastic on the spark plug wire looms?

Yes, I've done it several times; works good.

Save a couple of old margarine dishes, easy to trim for a shallow dip.

I am planning on restoring mine with stripping off the old rubber, cleaning and painting the metal semi-gloss black and then dipity-dooing them in black Plasti-Dip. Thanks for the margarine tub idea b5rt.

Plasti Dip works great on many parts. Just follow the instructions. I transferred the Plasti Dip into a jar with a lid that seal tight. Still good after a year.

Thanks guys! I've never used the product and thought this would be a good place to get some feedback. The product itself is cheap enough and, as it seems to work well, appears to be the answer to taking things back to as lose as original as possible. The other option is to use aftermarket looms, which, in my opinion, look pretty nasty.
