Maybe this topic has been addressed but I didn't find it. Can the tail lights (bezels and all) be interchanged from a 1960 model DeSoto or Chrysler to a 1961 a model?

I've always liked the '60 tail lights better of both the Chrysler and DeSoto and given the opportunity I personally would do the swap. In fact I like the boomerang Chrysler design the best and would even consider swapping '60 Chrysler's to a '60 DeSoto.

No they won't fit, the opening in the fin end of the quarter panel is a completely different shape from 60-61.

If you could determine whether the fenders are the same, then you have your answer. Certainly looks possible. And I agree, that 1960 taillights are nicer than 1961.

Yeah, they won't swap from '60 to '61, but I believe that '60 DeSoto will swap to '60 Chrysler. I haven't verified it though.

Ian is right......they won't fit....the '61 fin opening is really different from the '60.....they may look the same but without changing the entire light opening to accept the '60 tail light, it's not gonna work...!

What everyone has said is correct, but here it is condensed:
1960 tail light housings will interchange between Chrysler and Desoto
1961 tail light housings will interchange between Chrysler and Desoto
But you can't swap between 1960 and 1961 cars as the opening in the sheet metal is different between the two years.

There are technologies to solve that issue:

How about this for an improvement? Best looking '61 DsSoto rear end treatment I've seen!

That was my thought, the shark noses are just as cool as the boomerangs, but almost impossisble to find.

I wonder where GM got the idea for the trunk lid on their early 70's LeMans. Hmmm......;)
