Dollars to donuts, the 5 button transmission is actually a cast-iron A-466. Lots of folks would equate 5 pushbuttons to "Torqueflite" and "Torqueflite" to "727" without even knowing about the A-466. Some chassis photos, specifically of the bottom of the transmission (the shape of the trans oil pan) would prove/disprove "727".

Regardless, nice car.

I sent this note to the seller ----

Quote " Hey that's a great looking 300-F but there are some glaring mistakes and misleading information in the description. First you claim it has the original Torqueflite 727 automatic. The 727 didn't come out until 1962. You actually talk about the transmission further in the description and even mention that fact that the 727 replaced the A-488 in 1962. However there was no such thing as an A-488 Torqueflite. The first generation torqueflite was an A-466, which is what is in this car if it is an original transmission. The 727 won't even bolt up to a 1960 413 engine without changing the crank and flange. There are several incorrect references to an A-488 in various places on the web. There was never any such designation as that. And you also claim the paint is original, but has been color sanded and clear coated. Anyone who looks close can tell it is not original paint. For one thing, the VIN Plate on the driver's door pillar has been painted over. They vin plates left the factory as unpainted stainless steel. Also it's easy to notice under the hood that the rubber hood side bumpers have been painted over. And, inside the trunk the sound deadener waffle paper between the deck lid supports has been painted over white. it left the factory unpainted. Plus, the undersides of the rocker panels never looked this good, even from factory...... and after a few years got all scarred up from rocks and debris flying up. to note - the Washer bottle is completely dis-connected and thereby is not operative. "Good luck on the sale, but I suggest you update the description and verify completely the facts before posting."

Don't miss the "cast iron" intake.

"Again, importantly this is a seemingly all original and stock surviving car which has its original 413/375HP Long Ram V8 engine with its correct special dual 4 BBL carburetors with cast iron intake manifolds and original legendary Heavy Duty cast iron case Torqueflite transmission. The 3 speed Torqueflite was Chrysler's mainstay transmission from its 1956 introduction on the Imperial and was also sold to other luxury automakers including such European marques such as Facel-Vega and Jensen. The first Torqueflite automatic transmission was the revolutionary A-488 which was lauded at the time as being the best automatic transmission in the world until the A-727 aluminum case which replaced the A-488 in 1962."

Definitely A-466 cast iron Torqueflite

I'd be more concerned about the AstroDome functioning properly than I would about the accuracy as to what transmission it had. I'd drive the car regardless.

I would take the Charger that is one of the lifts! Car looks good, don't know about the price... Again if you want this car to be perfect you need to throw a lot of money at it...

I took the time to discover all 100+ pictures (downloaded onto my computer).

From what I saw...

- tachometer isn't working for sure

- air vent and heating is not working

- jiffy jet windshield washer is not working

- no balance tube between the exhaust pipes between oil pan end and torque converter housing.

Beside that car is ways overpriced, the possible buyer has to take a bunch of bank notes into his hand to bring all the functions back to work.
