Any thoughts on why the temp gauge and fuel gauge would be pegged to the right (hot/full)? Can’t figure it out.

Thanks

Both gauges use a switched 12V input signal and a variable resistance to ground to vary the movement of the gauge needle. For the temp gauge, it seems like the resistance to ground in the sender at the front, top, of the engine has gone to zero (it's failed so there is no resistance to ground).

My investigations for my 56 Dodge temp sender:

Disconnect the sender wires from the back of the gauge. If that fixes the problem, then your senders have an issue. If it doesn't fix the problem, then the issue is in your gauges.

Good point. Quick and dirty but effective diagnosis. Or at least a pathway to the final diagnosis.

And I will add that, based on my under-dash investigations (especially the temp gauge), the sender connection wire is the one with the bullet end that you can just gently pull out of the back of the gauge. (The switched 12V wire is the one that is bolted to the back of the gauge via a stud and nut).
