The large 12" AAJ disc brake kit uses the original hubs to mount a truck rotor to the front of it, but there are a lot of subtle differences between the brake parts on the Dodge vs. the Plymouth V8 hubs & brakes. Plymouth V6 parts are 10" instead of 11" and are different as well. This makes it necessary for them to specify that you only use Dodge hubs in the conversion because that's what he designed it for. Even the drums between Dodge & Plymouth V8 are different even though at first glance, they look mostly identical. The Dodge drum is deeper by approximately .40 to .41", but the brakes & backing plates themselves are the same. (The deeper Dodge drum is on the left and the Plymouth drum is on the right.) Very odd that they chose to make the hubs & drums so different from each other.

From the outside, with the drums installed, the hubs look the same, but from the inside, and after you remove the drum, their differences become more obvious. The Dodge hub is shown on the right, and the Plymouth hub is on the left. The wheel mounts to the outside face of the hub and there is a .290" difference in height between them at the outside face. But the Dodge inner bearing is seated deeper than the Plymouth one so it is difficult to tell the total seated difference until you mount them to the car. The mounted difference is around .275". This gives a .55" wider track width for the Dodge and this height difference is the reason why AAJ requires the use of Dodge hubs for their conversion. Notice that the flange on the hub is also different. The Dodge uses a .4" thick flange whereas the Plymouth uses a thicker .5" flange. The Plymouth hub also has a ridge that can be used to center the wheel or rotor on, but the Dodge doesn't have it. Both hubs use the same outer & inner bearings in them.
