Pretty sure this was talked about when it was available at Mecum in 19 and it's not a real D500.

Was there a thread on this car when it was at Mecum ? Judging by how original this wagon is, I'd be really surprised if someone did do an engine swap. I'd love to see a build sheet. Also, it looks to be a CA-built car, since there is a data plate on the A-post, rather than on the dataplate.

M2 = 3 – it is D500;

I don’t know why they did it (4BBL to 2/4BBL and 4BBL again), but upper radiator tank dents, power brakes booster (reservoir) scratches, red hood spring hinges (that’s what I glimpse find) and perhaps many other things are still present…

The right side view of the engine bay (mecum does not have it – front view only) for comparing…

That's what it was, this was some quick driveway respray or something. I knew there was something with this car that was shady. If I recall, the owner won his on bid at mecum trying to get the value up.

It left the factory as a white car. And still has incorrect Jiffy Jet bag.

Is it just me, or does that passenger side dual quad pic show the correct exhaust manifold with choke tube? Is that still on the car? Because that would be unique to the dual 4bl engine. Definitely a wild recent history to the car.

Well that ad has now been taken down and there is another ad on Hemmings showing the single four barrel with no mention of the dual four barrels,
but it's still calling it a D-500. Was the D-500 in 1959 a 383 with single or dual fours? If single four, was the dual four a Super D-500?

Super D-500 = 383 with 2 x 4 bbl carbs, etc., 345 hp

D-500 = 383 with single 4 bbl carb, 320 hp
