Lovely day here in the Vancouver BC area, sunny, dry and "warm" (for December). Had the 56 Dodge out to run some errands (i.e. an excuse to get the car out). Twice while I was out, people approached me (wearing masks (like I was), at a respectful, Covid-sensitive, distance) and commented on how they like the colours, shape, etc of my car. (Oh, gosh, gee, thanks). Then I tell them it's a 1956. Both times, (two different people), they replied, "Are you the original owner?". I laughed. "Ah, gee, no".

I either people can't do math or somehow I've aged a lot since Covid (I'm 69 but don't I think look no more than a day over 68) ;).

With the last commentor, I suggested that if the car was a 56 and I was 20 and bought it new, I would have be be 84, to which they replied, "Oh, right". Then we laughed.

There are probably a few folks around that bought 56 Dodges, etc. new and might still have them. Unfortunately, they are probably not very computer savvy and don't visit this forum.

84? Come on!

That's hilarious.

I was telling my wife today's story at supper and one of us said effectively the same thing, that I should have said, "Yah, I was 5 and I saved my money from my paper route"

When I am in my 1957 DeSoto (63 years old) -- and I am born in
1958 (62 years old)....
I simply tell them, " Yes, I ordered it while I was in the room....
I mean "womb"..."
(I don't know what they are thinking, but they do have a confused
look on their face !!!!)

That hurts Dave..the civilians have never asked me if I am the original owner but they often ask if the car has been repaint.....haha...or if the interior is the original...hoho...
and it has always been fully detailed cars. I good rule is to not open the mouth before the brains are fully connected....
