Hi everyone, does anyone know if the oil filler tube of the early cast iron A488 Torqueflites is the same as any of the later models (727's etc).
In in UK and have this crazy French car (59 Facel Vega HK500) with a 'B' Block 383 and cast iron Torqueflite trans.

As you might imagine none of this early stuff is thick on ground over here, but there are some folks that deal in the latter Mopars but not familiar with pre 65.

Not the easiest part to ship across Atlantic either....

Hope someone can point us in right direction

cheers

The 727 tubes are different, they press into the top front of the case. The A488's screw into the oil pan. V8 A488 oil pans are the same
from 1956 through 1961. There are a few variations of tubes on the A488 depending on which car and engine is used. You should be
able to use one from any model v8 A488 and be pretty close. You might have to modify the mounting bracket on the tube to fit your
specific engine.

Hate to be pedantic *BUT* the cast iron Torqueflite is called an A-466, not A-488. Just to be precise.

I've made the same mistake before and was lashed with a wet noodle for my transgression:

Actually, the TorqueFlite cast iron hog is a 466 not a 488

In the meantime, and closer to you, there might be help from the Bristol Owners club since the V8 Bristols used Mopar engines and probably torqueflite transmissions.
